About Wanchen
Wanchen (婉晨) is an independent jewelry studio built around two old materials — silver and jade — and one old habit: taking our time.
Our pieces start at the stone market, not the drawing board. We choose the jade first, because every stone has a grain, a temperature, a mood; the design has to fit the stone it will live on. Then comes silver wire, hand-drawn and hand-bent to roughly 0.3 mm — thin enough to follow the stone's curve, strong enough to hold it for decades. No casting molds, no glue. Where enamel appears, it is fired layer by layer — sometimes seven passes for a single shade of red.
Why poetry?
Because Chinese jewelry was never only decoration. A hairpin meant a season; a pair of bracelets meant a promise; a moon pendant meant someone far away, thinking of you under the same sky. Tang dynasty poets wrote these meanings down a thousand years ago, and they still read true. Our journal and our book, The Poetry of Stones, are our way of passing them on — in English, properly.
What we promise
Honest materials, stated plainly: S925 silver, nephrite or jadeite jade, fired enamel. Every stone sold with a certificate from a national gem-testing lab. No "energy claims," no mystery pricing — just a stone, some wire, and twenty quiet hours.
